Born and raised in Dallas, William Jones knew he wanted to live and work as an attorney in the area after finishing school. He attended Furman University in South Carolina where he was a Pre-Law Political Science major. After graduation, William returned to Dallas to attend SMU’s Dedman School of Law.

William grew up in a family of lawyers and knew from an early age that he wanted to follow in their footsteps. While in college, William decided to get an early start on his career by taking a job working for a highly respected personal injury law firm in South Carolina. While with the office, William was afforded the opportunity to work on cases from start to finish. He quickly garnered valuable experience in the area of personal injury law.

After graduating from college, William returned to Dallas where he attended SMU Law School. While a law student, he continued to expand his civil work experience, working for two of the top civil firms in Dallas. During this time, he gained first hand experience by participating in many high profile lawsuits.

William Jones — Civil Trial Attorney

Civil law has changed drastically over the last several years due to tort reform legislation. The vast majority of cases are now resolved through means other than trial. Most cases are settled by agreement of the parties involved. Despite this, the importance of having an attorney with courtroom experience cannot be overstated. If an insurance company knows it is dealing with someone who either won’t or can’t take a case to trial, its settlement offers could be greatly reduced. However, because of the new standards, very few civil attorneys have significant courtroom experience.

Knowing the importance of courtroom experience, William decided to delay his practice of civil law, and instead became a criminal prosecutor with the Collin County District Attorney’s Office. He spent six and a half years with the DA’s office, handling thousands of cases and gaining valuable courtroom experience. As a criminal prosecutor, William personally conducted over 300 trials and countless courtroom hearings. These cases covered a broad spectrum ranging from theft, to drug possession, and even capital murder. William was also assigned to the Special Crimes Division of the DA’s office, working on complex white-collar cases. These cases are typically financial crimes dealing with hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars. The preparation and prosecution of these crimes mimics the way many civil cases are handled.

In 2012, William left the DA’s office and formed Jones & Hull, P.C. with one of his former co-workers. Their combined courtroom experience and uniquely aggressive approach to cases has earned them a solid reputation as outstanding trial attorneys.
